It was actually really easy to render. I used terragen, and you can download the program for free on the website. I don't know the url, so just google terragen The tutorials really help too.

good to know, thanks! 3dsmax 7 kinda has a steep learning curve, but that could be a combination of me not spending the time on it and not having basics tutorials available. keep up the good work
Yeah, I have a CD with Lightwave 7.0 and 3D Studio Max sitting next to my computer... but I'm kinda scared to put it on my computer lol. I doubt my computer will even be able to handle the damned programs...

yea, 3dsmax is a hog as far as processor and memory requirements go. better have at least 1 gb of ram to get it to run smooth. its bearable with less, but feels sluggish.

* Primary Operating Systems: XP Professional (SP2), Windows 2000 (SP4), and XP Home (SP2).
* 512 MB RAM and 500 MB swap space minimum (1GB RAM and 2GB Swap Space Recommended).
* Graphics card supporting 1024x768 16-bit colour with 64MB RAM. (OpenGL and Direct3D hardware acceleration supported; 3D graphics accelerator 1280 x 1024 32-bit colour with 256MB RAM preferred).
* Windows-compliant pointing device (specific optimisation for Microsoft IntelliMouse).
* Wacom Intuos or similar pressure sensitive tablet recommended for vertex paint.
* CD-ROM drive.
* Optional: sound card and speakers; cabling for TCP/IP-compliant network; 3D hardware graphics acceleration; video input and output devices; joystick; midi-instruments; 3-button mouse.
* Internet Explorer 6.

You can get by with a 128mb graphics card, im doing it and it works just fine, but when rendering, the processing horsepower that youve got available and the amount of ram you have really affect how fast things render, especially the complex scenes and animations. hell, i remember back in the day when i tried 3dsmax 5 on my pentium II, it took FOREVER to render anything. so the more the better, but you can get by on less.
